Software PPA Metrics Results from Real world MCU Security Applications
summary
Comparison of production security code compiled with GCC and ARM Compiler shows concrete static code size differences for MCU targets. Measurements use 100K lines C IMX package and a 40K line crypto library, compiled for Cortex-M4 and RV32IMC with GCC at O0 O2 O3 and optional msave/restore and execute-only flags. RV builds measure ~1.08–1.15x size for package one, but package two shows 1.29–1.52x growth versus Cortex and compressed RV32IMC code shrinks ~23%. Further static analysis and power/performance metrics are planned.
