Megashark and a Pie-Bearing Tree: Our Life in Stick Figures
summary
Twenty years of hand-drawn stick figures are collected and posted on Tumblr and Facebook via iPhone, and the claim is that the comics map shared emotions not private quirks. Specific recurring images—Megashark eats school buses, a chainsaw-made sandwich, splitting a cupcake with an axe, and a pie-bearing tree—become shorthand for anger, embarrassment, joy and longing. Audience responses prove dozens of people read the same feelings into the same drawings.
