A virtual reading room prototype uses an HTC Vive headset with Leap Motion hand tracking to evaluate three interaction mappings — direct manipulation, semi-direct (object-referenced), and indirect (pinch gestures) — for the core radiology tasks of scrolling through slices and windowing contrast. A user study with nine radiologists finds direct interaction scores highest on attractiveness and pragmatic quality but reveals dependability problems from center-of-view selection and out-of-tracking-area loss; plans include gaze tracking, redesigned 3D model, and objective performance measurements.
