WristWhirl uses the wrist as an always-available joystick for one-handed continuous smartwatch input and demonstrates feasibility with a 15-participant study on 8 gestures (4 directional, 4 free-form). Directional marks average ~0.5 s, free-form ~1.5 s, and a $1 gesture recognizer hits 93.8% accuracy (three humans 85%). A proof-of-concept watchband adds 12 proximity sensors plus a piezo pinch detector; screen drift measures ~9 mm standing and ~24 mm walking. Limitations include IR interference and no multi-touch support.
