An interactive visualization called EgoLines maps each co-author as a line across time using a subway-map metaphor, shows collaborations as dots, gaps as dashed segments, and clusters by color; demo uses CHI and WSEAS publications over 25 years and a John Stasko ego-network where turnover proves high and filters reveal long-term collaborators. A controlled study with 18 participants finds EgoLines best overall: equal-time but more accurate for temporal tasks and fastest/most accurate for topology, except it performs worst on a bridge-finding task.
