Dehydrated FHIR
summary
Babylon builds a FHIR-specific templating engine called Hydrant that maps simple internal models (called dFHIR) into full FHIR resources (example: hydrate a body-measurement dFHIR into an Observation) and back. Templates live outside service code, generate protobuf→Kafka→OpenSearch schemas and client code for JVM and other languages, and produce FHIR profiles/value sets. Property-based tests generate random dFHIR, hydrate and dehydrate, and catch wrong types, dead parameters and duplicates; protobuf checks prevent breaking schema changes. Hydrant is written in Scala and slated for open source.
