Cockpit provides a browser-based Linux admin UI with a JavaScript API (cockpit.spawn, D‑Bus calls, file/socket access) and a ready example using React. The project supplies a starter kit that builds RPMs or runs via make install, bundles modern JS toolchains, and executes a browser integration test suite (headless Chromium in distro VM images: Fedora/CentOS/Ubuntu/Debian) on shared CI infrastructure. Release is automated via a cockpit release helper script and bots that update NPM deps; real extensions like cockpit-composer already use it.
