Helm: Past, Present, Future

Project starts Oct 19, 2015 and evolves from centralized stable/incubator charts to a distributed chart model plus Artifact Hub to stop maintainer burnout. Core design trades include choosing go templates (easy to ship but brittle and hard to document) and conservative CRD handling because deleting a CRD can cascade-delete user resources. Chart signing adoption stays tiny — about 2–3% signed charts — so easier signing (notary v2 or HSM-friendly UX) is a stated goal. HIPs formalize proposals; OCI artifact support and optional embedded runtimes (WASM/Lua/JS) are explored for Helm 4.
