Lightning Talk: What I’ve Learned by Running Local CNCF Chapter Cloud-native Islamabad
summary
Built a local CNCF chapter in Islamabad that runs 25+ webinars and 20+ meetups since March 2020, using community.cncf.io for registration and live streaming, and pulling in global CNCF speakers on Kubernetes, Prometheus and Envoy. Costs stay low by leveraging CNCF tooling, social channels and free streaming; attendance grows, local contributors appear, and public-speaking anxiety decreases. Outcome: an active microcommunity that shares code, runs regular events and already feeds into real contributions.
