Supporting Each Other: Growth for Juniors and Seniors

on YouTube ↗34m

" summary

Argues that hiring juniors is practical and valuable, not just idealistic: juniors bring fresh motivation and flexible mindset, can learn quickly when given focused tasks, and seniors grow by mentoring. Recommends concrete practices: focus each task on one topic, sketch architectures, give constructive code reviews, and use pair programming as conversation. Uses real Android stack examples — MVVM + repository + use cases, Dagger, Rx — and warns of turnover (six Android developers leaving in one year) to justify building mentoring capacity.
