Goofing Off with Fun (Big) Data

Talkat PyData London 2019 · 2019-07-12..07-14· [data-visualization]
slides:none on file

Builds two playable demos and reports what actually works: a Bosch-bot heatmap of most-liked zooms (data pulled with twint + pandas scrape, image registration failed with OpenCV so coordinates come from Photoshop), served as a leaflet tiled map of Bosch painting using gdal2tiles; and a poem-remixer using gensim Word2Vec models (Project Gutenberg corpora), UMAP, Plotly and a painful React UI. Encounters: 223MB Wikipedia image, Pillow decompression limits, crashed alignment attempts, celebrity retweet skews top‑10 counts, final apps are rough but demonstrably functional.
