KubeVirt Intro: Virtual Machine Management on Kubernetes
Talkat KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America 2019 · on Tuesday, 2019-11-19· at 14:25· Room 33ABC - San Diego Convention Center, Upper Level·
summary
KubeVirt brings full virtual machines into Kubernetes by adding CRDs for VirtualMachine and VirtualMachineInstance, running VMs inside virt-launcher pods and delegating hypervisor work to libvirt. Installer uses an operator and a cluster-scoped CR to provision API servers, controllers and launchers; demo boots a CentOS VM from a containerDisk/cloud-image in seconds. Networking uses pod CNI (flannel) with L2 bridging and optional Multus CNI for multiple interfaces. GPU passthrough is available and the project is in the CNCF sandbox.
