summary

Organizers describe building FOSS United as a tiny volunteer startup that runs two remote hackathons, monthly meetups in Bangalore, and issues grants to projects like Adonis (JavaScript framework), SkyTable (key‑value store) and the Fika language (hackathon winner given extended funding). They build community assets such as Bond School, partner with xeroda to co‑sponsor grants, work with 16 NGOs, collaborate with Internet Freedom Foundation, and draft a government policy paper while campaigning against software patents.
