Welcome
summary
A short welcome recounts concrete ways Jens shapes careers: three roles — mentor, citizen, explorer — with specifics: coauthored the presenter's first grant, taught a 10‑week course lowering a Java subset to assembly, and advised on type‑inference work. Service record shocks with a 13‑page service CV and roughly 15 years leading major departmental roles (5 years chair, ~8 years hiring chair). Career moves include an MBA and a left turn into quantum, plus a final nod to his comic timing.
