Parallella is a $150 single-board Linux computer with 18 cores (2 ARM, 16 Epiphany), an FPGA and add-on boards like a Porcupine camera carrier. A CPU-bound prime search 0–16M runs serially on Parallella in ~237s, serial on a Mac in ~14s, and using the Epiphany parallel library completes in 18.6 seconds for 0–16M primes (about 1,030,113 primes found). The board runs on about 5 watts power, making low-power parallel experiments practical.
