Zephyr 4.x now supports Rust but the Rust port is work in progress: setup requires Rust plus clang, using west update and main branch checkout to avoid 4.2 build bugs, and building with CMake’s rust_cargo_application glue. Rust’s ownership model prevents many data races and use‑after‑free bugs but stack sizing and logging increase stack needs. A simple hello world demo flashed successfully after fixes, binaries show no big size hit, and device‑driver and testing workflows remain exploratory.
