Uptime == Money: High Availability

Braintree shows concrete HA work: uptime target ~five nines ($9,500/minute impact), rolling server‑by‑server deploys with pre/post migrations, fast schema work on PostgreSQL so adds/drops are milliseconds, and a queueed front end built from broxy and dispatchers (Apache → broxy → Redis → Ruby dispatchers) that lets dispatchers pause to “freeze” traffic. Outbound proxies (mallerie), LVS/ipvs + pacemaker, BigBrother + LitmusPaper health checks, automation and retries all get measured, built, and proven.
