Creating map visualizations with open data and Folium
summary
Project uses Folium to build an interactive map of 101 MRT points from LTA shapefiles, converts SVY21 coordinates to lat/lon, geocodes URA and HDB transactions via OneMap API, computes great‑circle distances and keeps transactions within 1 km of each station, then averages price per square foot and normalizes 0–1 to generate HSV colors for popups. Result shows CBD PPSF ≈ $6 dropping to ≈ $2 toward the fringe and a steep decline already after one or two stations. An XGBoost pipeline is used for further modeling.
