PowerShell & Your Next Career Steps: Oh the Places You'll Go
summary
Community connections turn into jobs: a $2,000 self‑paid Summit trip in 2019 leads to a Chocolatey offer after a hallway conversation with Rob Reynolds, and years later skills shift from ops into solutions roles. Practical moves: organize scripts into PowerShell modules, use PSWindowsUpdate plus Ansible to automate patch windows (built a sequenced patch tool that works and saves hours), practice 15 minutes per day of study, and remember job changes give ~10% pay bump versus a ~‑2% loss for stayers.
